Rice is always present on Cuban family tables, accompanying meats and fish. However, fried rice has become an exquisite main dish. Its preparation is left to the imagination and hands of the cooks.

Cuban fried rice has earned a special place in the gastronomy of the Caribbean island.

Ingredients

3 cups of Rice

2 ½ liters of Water

3 tablespoons of Oil

3 Cloves of garlic

1 teaspoon of Fresh or grated dry ginger root

1 pound of Smoked pork, ham, sausages, seafood, fish, and others you want to add

6 Eggs cooked in thin tortillas

4 tablespoons of Soy sauce

2 cups of Raw cabbage cut in julienne

2 cups of Green onions

Preparation

Step 1 : To prepare this delicious fried rice, start by cooking the rice beforehand, ensuring it is fluffy and without salt or fat.

Step 2 : You can even do it a day in advance.

Step 3 : Then, beat the eggs with soy sauce and a tablespoon of chicken broth.

Step 4 : In a pan with a tablespoon of oil, pour the egg mixture to make a kind of pancake.

Step 5 : Once cooled, cut into small pieces or thin strips.

Step 6 : In the same pan, add a little more oil and sauté the onion and carrot until they are translucent.

Step 7 : Add the garlic, avoiding burning.

Step 8 : If you are using seafood, fish, chicken, pork, ham, or sausages, pre-cook them and then cut them into thin strips or pieces.

Step 9 : Cut the cabbage into julienne strips and also other vegetables like bell peppers.

Step 10 : In the same pan, heat more oil (not olive oil) and sauté the crushed garlic cloves.

Step 11 : When golden, add the rice and start stirring.

Step 12 : Gradually add the remaining ingredients in the order indicated in the recipe, continuing with constant stirring.

Step 13 : Grate the ginger directly over the rice and finish by adding the green onions.

Step 14 : Serve hot and accompany with additional soy sauce, so each guest can add according to their taste.
